JRS Germany - JRS Germany visits the main detention centres in Berlin, Eisenhüttenstadt (Brandenburg) and Munich (Bavaria). Detainees are provided with legal, social and pastoral support. The legal aid fund offers legal assistance to refugees who have no other means to pay for their lawyer. JRS Germany takes part in the commission for hardship cases in Berlin. On a political level, JRS Germany comments on the German migration and integration policy in order to defend the intersts of immigrants and refugees.

JRS Italy - JRS Italy is running a social centre in Rome offering assistance and health care to asylum seekers and refugees. Special services are offered to victims of torture. In Catania (Sicily), JRS Italy is responsible for an accomodation centre, providing shelter for 60 migrants and refugees. In addition, training courses and qualifications are offered to refugees and immigrants in order to facilitate their integration. JRS Italy is advocating for the interests of migrants and asylum seekers and tries to raise public awareness on this topic.

JRS Malta - JRS Malta continues to focus on detention, offering legal advice, social work and pastoral services. The team provided legal information regarding rights and procedures to all new arrivals, and more in depth legal assistance mostly to vulnerable cases so that they can obtain their releas more speedily.

JRS Malta participates in meetings with other NGOs and with government officials in order to improve the situation of refugees. Social assistance and health care is provided to migrants inside and outside the detention centres. With public events, JRS Malta wants to inform the local population about the situation of migrants.

JRS Portugal - With the Pedro Arrupe Centre, JRS Portugal is providing shelter for migrants in humanitrian need. The social aid office provided emergency social support to: undocumented migrants, the homeless, migrants with alcohol problems or other illnesses, single mothers/fathers and the unemployed. Socially vulnerable migrants can receive food in the centre. JRS Portugal is providing social, psychological and religious support to irregular migrants in the UHSA detention centre who are waiting for their deportation.

Volunteer doctors are providing their services for migrants in the Medical Aid Office of JRS Portugal. A psychological support project addresses to migrants in psychological distress. JRS Portugal is running a number of projects aimed at integrating migrants and refugees into Portugese life. There are special integration programms for medical staff. Young people can find help with integration and employment problems. With awareness rising projects, JRS portugal aims at creating a positive attitude toward migrants and refugees.

JRS Romania - JRS is currently providing temporary accomodation for refugees and other migrants in a social dormitory. The inhabitants receive assistance and counselling. The work is focused on providing basic accomodation to support individual self-sufficiency. Migrants are helped to take responsibility for their future rather than becoming dependent on JRS services.

JRS romania assists refugees and migrants to comply with administrative requirements set down by the state. Migrants receive assistance to find an employment. JRS romania provides information about other NGOs and agencies that could be helpful for refugees and refers them to doctors when they need medical help. JRS Romania encourages migrants to take part in language courses and cultural programmes in order to make them familiar with the Romanian society.

CEI Migra/Spain - The Center for Education and Social Integration of Immigrants (CeiMigra) is a foundation of Valencia community and the Society of Jesus. One of its many objectives is the creation of a deep sense of solidarity among people of different cultures. The Foundation CeiMigra is the meeting place for dialogue and the formation of an advanced and tolerant multicultural society.

JRS Sweden - Visitor groups (9 persons) provide support to detainees, help them to communicate with their lawyers and relatives, and mediate between the detainees, the police and the Swedish migration board.

JRS UK - JRS UK works mainly with detainees and destitute asylum seekers. Volunteers regularly visit detention centres, offering legal, social and pastoral support.

Asylum seekers who have received final refusals in their claims can visit the JRS office in London for practical assistance and help. JRS UK is defending the rights of refugees by influencing public opinion, lobbying and raising awareness about the real hardships that asylum seekers and refugees face in the UK today.

JRS Ukraine - The increasing number of migrants into Ukraine continues to outpace its capacity to handle even a modest flow. The porous Russian-Ukrainian border admits innumerable migrants from countries stretching from Chechnya to Koreas to Afghanistan. The Balkan route sees countless Africans en route through Ukraine to the EU.

In 2006 a centre was opened for the care of refugee claimants. Four lawyers and a language instructor volunteered their services. Constant contact is maintained with border guards and officials from the Department of Migration. JRS Ukraine collaborates with JRS Portugal and other JRS offices in assisting Ukrainian irregular emigrants who wish to return home for reasons of health or poverty.
