Timeline
(1) Review of the EPIM I study “We are dying silent” (October
2008 –March 2009)
(i) Update the existing data;
(ii)
Include new data on Sweden and Spain and;
(iii) Study
the Irish case to identify the keys of the possible migration
programme since
the report EPIM I showed little destitution in Ireland.
(2) Planning and coordination of the national events
(3) National Events (May 2009 –February 2010)
(i) JRS country offices will organise
eight events on the topics referred to in the
destitution report (healthcare, access to education, housing,
work conditions).
(ii) Each national office will identify the
topics that are most relevant in their situation.
The national events will include a media element as well
as a workshop where the
main destitution actors at national level will try to identify
best practices on destitute
service provision. Workshops will be designed in a way that will
allow to compare
different situations and facilitate common policy
recommendations – the European
recommendations of the final conference will thus build on the
national experiences.
(4) European Destitute Conference (December 2010)
(i)
The main objectives of the conference are to open a debate on
the Destitution issue at
European level, to bring together stakeholders and policy makers
providing service to
destitute people and try to adopt minimum standards regarding
service provision to
destitute people. The three day conference will start with a
video presentation on the
destitute problem across Europe, then a introductory session by
JRS, followed by 4
parallel workshop focused on the topics mentioned above.

(i) A
booklet on the conference.
