MALTA, MARCH 11- Ms Katrine Camilleri of JRS has been awarded "International Woman of Achievement" by the US embassy.  The award recognises Ms Camilleri's tireless and exceptional work as an advocate for human rights and her continued work on behalf of irregular migrants.  Speaking at the award ceremony, US Ambassador Molly Bordonaro praised Ms Camilleri's work with JRS Malta and commended her on the legal work she does with asylum seekers in Malta.

Ms Bordonaro continued by bringing attention to the freedoms afforded to women in Malta and the US, saying, "Today, a woman can be a mother, a wife, a government official, a businessperson-or any combination of the above." 

The award for Ms Camilleri comes fresh on the heels of her receipt of the UN Nansen Award late last year.  These honours are a testament to her brave work and the work of JRS Malta in general.
