Winners
The jury has selected the winners of the Pedro Arrupe Award 2007.
In the age group up to 16 years, there were 16
entries.
The winners in that category are from the Slovakian school "Gymnázium sv. Tomáša
Akvinského" in Košice. The students: Zuzana Krnáčová, Miroslav Vlček, Daniela
Richterová, Pavol Hučka and Martina Slivková, with help of their teacher Angesa
Kovalčíková, produced an engaging and informative PowerPoint presentation
entitled “How we learnt about the refugees”.
In the age group up to 19 years, the jury had to choose between 13 projects.
In this age group, the winner are students from a Polish school, "Gimnazjum i
Liceum Jezuitów" in Gdynia. Their project entitled "Refugees" was a moving song,
accompanied by photographs, depicting the lives of refugees. The students that
won the award are Paulina Klonowska, Maciej Zydek, Maciej Glaza, Aleksander
Nadolski and Michał Gronowski, and their teacher is Oliver Pasion.
Special mention
The jury has decided to give a special mention to two extra
teams: from France and Spain. They submitted high quality projects that showed
extensive research, analysis and creative engagement with the subject.
Students from France, Henry Bataille-Dudoignon, Amaury Belair, Louis Plantard,
prepared a radio show called "Emission sur les réfugiés sur la radio RCF". They
are from the school "Etablissement scolaire Saint Joseph de Tivoli" in Bordeaux
Cedex.
The second project to be given a special mention was "Model/maqetta of
classroom", made by the Spanish students of the school "CIP-Eléctrico del
Instituto Jesús Obrero de Vitoria-Gasteiz" in País Vasco. During the whole of
the Pedro Arrupe Award project, the students Jairo Marcos, Asier García, Diego
Naveros, Ińaki Tirado and Aritz Castro were assisted by their teacher Aitor
Ibabe.
